Honolulu, Hawaii – On March 19, professional organizers from the Hawaii Association of Professional Organizers (HAPO) gave an office makeover to the Coalition for a Tobacco-Free Hawaii (CTFH). “We moved to a new office space in July, but have never really figured out how to use the space,” said Deborah Zysman, CTFH’s executive director. “Even though it is larger, it feels cluttered and cramped. We are often tripping on boxes and unable to find things.”

As part of National Get Organized Monthsm, CTFH was awarded a one-day makeover by HAPO and its members. Professional organizers donated their services to create storage solutions for supplies, rearrange furniture and train staff members how to clear their desks and offices of clutter. The result is an efficient workspace that enables employees to focus on tasks instead of wasting time looking for supplies to complete those tasks.

Tobacco-Free Hawaii, a statewide organization headquartered in Honolulu, can now focus on new ways to reduce tobacco use and keep kids from smoking. “We couldn’t have done it without the help of our sponsors,” says Karen Simon, HAPO’s president. Storage containers, filing supplies and gift cards were donated by Esselte Corporation (Oxford and Pendaflex brands–www.esselte.com), Smead Corporation (www.smead.com), Office Max (www.officemax.com), SC Johnson (Ziploc brand–www.scjohnson.com), the Simply Organized Store (www.simplyorganized.net), and City Mill (www.citymill.com). Access Corporation (www.accesscorp.com) provided shredding services. We Care, a television program carried by local cable channel, Ole’lo, was on site to document the event. The episode will air in April.
